When will Emirates start flying to Spain and Portugal?

May 8th, 2011 Posted in portugal | Comments Off

Question by J/a\v: When will Emirates start flying to Spain and Portugal?
I’m surprised that, if they fly to tiny places like Malta, they don’t fly to big cities in the Iberian Peninsula such as Madrid, Barcelona and Lisbon.

I heard some time ago that they were planning to start scheduled flights to Madrid and Barcelona at least. Any updates on this?

AMEX and VISA yes, yes and yes. Call the credit card company ahead of time and tell them to note on your acount you will be traveling abroad because sometimes they could put a hold on your card when it is used overseas, thinking it may be stolen. Have fun!!

Q&A: What was going on in Spain and Portugal in the 14th and 15th centuries?

May 1st, 2011 Posted in portugal | Comments Off

Question by : What was going on in Spain and Portugal in the 14th and 15th centuries?
Also what was going on in England in the 1300′s?
What were some important cultures in West Africa?

Best answer:

Answer by Lilitu
West Africa: The islam was heavily spreading around that time in Africa and became the new most important political and culutural power.

England: Edward I was a very good ruler, but with his death the kingdome lost inner stability leading to upraisings and stuff. Most important was the Great Famine of 1315–1317 that caused a lot of political instability. Scottland was restored as kingdome towards the end of the 1300s.

Spain/ Portugal: The reconquista was in fulll swing. Depending were you lived it was either a muslim or a christian lord, but the christians by 1500 had reconquered (to reconquere means reconquista in spanish) all of spain and portugal.

How can I ship personal items to the Azores, Portugal from Ontario Canada or New Bedford/Boston, USA?

April 29th, 2011 Posted in portugal | Comments Off

Question by porthunny: How can I ship personal items to the Azores, Portugal from Ontario Canada or New Bedford/Boston, USA?
I would like to know how to send barrels or boxes of personal items from Eastern Canada or USA to the Azores, Portugal.
Does anybody know anything about how to do this?
Who can I contact?
The cost?
Does it have to be barrels or can I send boxes too?
The sizes of the barrels or boxes?
I have like 15 boxes weighing about 500lbs in total. Canada Post would cost an arm and a leg. I know that people send barrels from the Eastern cost for like 0 for two barrels with unlimited weight. But I can’t find info on how to go around doing this myself.

Best answer:

Answer by guybetsy
Canada Post?

How many boxes do you have? And how big?

Perhaps a freight forwarding firm can help with the really large items…
