Question by CV7 – Never Back Down: How can I study in Portugal, then eventually get a Portuguese citizenship in the least possible amount of time?
I am 16 to go to Portugal to study when im 17, will this be easy to enter the country since I am still a minor? Also what is the quickest way possible to get a citizenship or Portugal, Iam Canadian Citizen, and am extremly awed by the culture and lifestyle of the Portuguese, and would like to live there, learn the language and hopefully become a citizen before I’m 18 or 19.

First, you should go see the country before you decide that you want to become a citizen. I’m sorry but it is impossible to become a citizen in 2 years. The shortest time period is 3 years and that’s only for people who marry a Portuguese citizen. The knowledge of the Portuguese language is also required. You cannot obtain Portuguese citizenship on a student visa. No country allows you to do such a thing. You cannot become a Portuguese citizen unless at least one of your parents holds that citizenship or you marry a citizen and live with her for 3 years at least before applying for citizenship.
