Surely you need to be born in a country to be able to represent it at international level. Deco a Brazilian has represented Portugal beause he qualified for ‘em by gaining citizenship same with Pietersen, he is South African and became eligable for England?

I think you should have to be born in that country to play for them.
Or have been a citizen since you was 1 years old or less and both parents are from that country (as a very small miniority are born on holiday).
I can’t believe Poland have a brazilian playing for them, when you see that you know it’s wrong. Just because he’s not good enough to play for his own country, he plays for them instead. He’s probably only lived their for a few years, so does that make him Polish? Nope

Why shouldn’t they be allowed? What kind of time do you live in?
If someone is a citizen of a country and identifies themselves with that country, they can play for their national team if they’re good enough to be called up.

because the system is messed up. I think the general rule should be followed that you play for the country you were born/mostly raised in. This is patriotism, not a league like Serie A or something.

Deco ?
And what you think about Pepe and Liedson?
Oh sorry, you maybe have no idea, but Portugal have THREE “brazilian” players in the team.
It’s a shame.
The portuguese team ceased to be Portuguese to be the alternate team of Brazil.
